Compare · Foodrazor vs HubDoc

HubDoc collects the documents. Foodrazor makes them work for the restaurant.

HubDoc was built to get documents from clients without the chase — fetching bills and statements automatically, extracting the data, pushing it to Xero. For a lot of clients, that automation is genuinely useful. Restaurant clients are a different problem.

Collection vs intelligence

HubDoc moves the invoice. Foodrazor makes it work.

01 · The HubDoc model

HubDoc is built around fetching documents.

It pulls statements and bills from supplier portals, bank feeds, and email. It's a collection tool first, an extraction tool second.

For restaurant clients that creates a practical problem: restaurants buy from dozens of suppliers, many of whom don't have portals. A lot of invoices arrive as PDFs, photos, or handwritten delivery dockets. HubDoc's fetch model doesn't solve the restaurant invoice problem — it just moves it.

What restaurants need isn't automated fetching. It's accurate extraction from whatever format the invoice arrives in, followed by something useful happening with the data.

02 · What Foodrazor does

Any format in. Two outputs out.

Your client photographs the invoice — or forwards the PDF, or has the supplier email Foodrazor directly. AI extracts every line item. A human reviewer checks it. You get a draft journal entry in Xero, mapped to the Chart of Accounts, with the original image attached.

Same output you're used to. But simultaneously, the operator's ingredient catalog updates, recipe costs recalculate, and the COGS dashboard reflects what was actually paid for that delivery.

The invoice does two jobs. The client does one.
03 · HubDoc & Xero

A note on HubDoc and Xero.

HubDoc is owned by Xero, which makes it a natural default for Xero practices. If you're recommending it to restaurant clients because it's already in the ecosystem — that's a reasonable starting point.

Foodrazor also integrates directly with Xero. The journal entry workflow is the same. What's different is what your restaurant clients get on top of it — a live view of their food costs HubDoc was never designed to provide.

04 · For your practice

Fewer surprises. Faster closes.

Restaurant clients are typically your most time-consuming — chasing invoices, correcting extraction errors, closing books on operations that move fast and document things inconsistently.

Foodrazor doesn't just make the accounting cleaner. It makes your restaurant clients better operators — which means fewer surprises, faster closes, and the kind of relationship where they call you for advice rather than to ask why their food cost is up this month. They already know. The dashboard told them on Tuesday.

Keep HubDoc for…

Your non-restaurant clients — where automated document fetching from portals and bank feeds genuinely saves time and the ingredient detail doesn't matter.

Switch to Foodrazor for…

The clients running kitchens — where invoices arrive in every format imaginable and the data should be powering food cost decisions, not just feeding a journal entry.
